MAPUSA: Mapusa-Guirim service, which had recently undergone repairs due to a burst main water pipeline, is again causing inconvenience to residents.
Prolonged traffic congestion and an inadequately repaired road have left locals frustrated and concerned about their safety. Moreover, a significant amount of water continues to flow beneath the road, resulting in water shortages for nearby communities.
The incident, which occurred a few days ago, was initially addressed by the Public Works Department (PWD) workers and local authorities who managed to fix the burst pipeline.
However, it has come to light that the repair work was done haphazardly, leaving the main service road without a proper tar or hot mixing surface. This neglect has resulted in massive traffic snarls during peak hours, posing a serious risk to commuters and pedestrians.
The poorly executed repairs have not only inconvenienced the public but have also highlighted the negligence of the authorities responsible for ensuring the safety and convenience of residents. The absence of a smooth road surface has become a breeding ground for accidents and has further aggravated the already precarious situation.
Furthermore, locals have discovered that the burst pipeline caused extensive damage to the road, leaving it dug up and exposed. Astonishingly, water still flows from beneath the road, leading to significant water accumulation in the area. This excess water supply has led to shortages in nearby communities, causing undue hardship to residents.
Confronted with these issues, the people of Mapusa-Guirim are demanding immediate action from the concerned authorities. They are urging a thorough analysis of the repair work to ensure the road is tarred correctly and made safe for public use. Simultaneously, they call for the assessment of the water supply to rectify the shortage issue and prevent further inconvenience to the community.
As the monsoon season approaches in a few days, residents fear the situation will worsen if the necessary repairs and assessments are not implemented promptly. The combination of heavy rains, poorly repaired roads, and water shortages could potentially lead to disastrous consequences for the locality.
In response to these mounting concerns, citizens have expressed their intention to escalate their grievances if their demands are not met in a timely manner. The local administration is urged to act swiftly, address the road hazards, and ensure an uninterrupted water supply to avoid any potential outbursts of anger from the community.
The affected residents hope that their voices will be heard and that swift action will be taken to rectify the situation before the onset of the monsoon season. The authorities must prioritize the safety, convenience, and well-being of the people they serve.
