PANAJI: Goa Congress has launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led State government, accusing it of deliberately withholding reservation for postgraduate clinical seats in Goa Medical College (GMC) and Goa Dental College. GPCC President Amit Patkar said the delay reflects the government’s “intent to deny justice” to OBC, SC, ST and EWS communities.
Patkar alleged that despite repeated assurances and a promise on the floor of the Assembly to act within a week, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has failed to issue the notification for reservation even after three months. “No notification. No reservation. No justice. This isn’t delay — this is betrayal,” he said.
He added that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has consistently exposed what he described as the BJP’s efforts to weaken the rights and representation of marginalised groups nationwide, saying Goa is no exception.
Patkar demanded that the Chief Minister urgently convene a Cabinet meeting and issue the long-pending notification ensuring “100 per cent roster-based reservation without excuses or manipulation.”
“The fight for justice will continue. If the government remains silent, we will raise our voice louder. Goa’s backward communities will not be cheated anymore,” the GPCC chief said.
