PANAJI: The District Magistrate, North Goa, has notified designated areas for pay parking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers within the jurisdiction of Village Panchayat Taleigao. The notified zones include spaces in front of St. Michael Church Cemetery and both sides of the road at Taleigao Market in Ward No. VIII, Sao Paul.
As per the notification, the rates for two-wheelers are ₹5 for up to four hours, ₹10 for four to 12 hours, and ₹15 for 12 to 24 hours. For four-wheelers, the rate is ₹20 for up to four hours, with ₹15 charged for every additional hour or part thereof.
The order specifies that attendants engaged in collecting parking fees must wear proper uniforms, display photo ID cards with unique numbers, and carry certified copies of the official rate chart for public reference. Parking slips or receipts issued to motorists must bear the letterhead of the Village Panchayat Taleigao along with contact details of the responsible Panchayat officer and contractor, ensuring grievances can be reported and addressed.
Additionally, the Village Panchayat and pay parking contractor are required to earmark at least two parking spaces for emergency vehicles at all times in each four-wheeler parking area. One four-wheeler parking slot must also be reserved for drivers with physical disabilities.
Officials said the move aims to streamline parking management, reduce congestion, and ensure better regulation of key public spaces in Taleigao.
