CANACONA: Emphasising that a healthy and active youth forms the foundation of a strong and progressive nation, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar urged citizens to adopt fitness as a way of life.
The Sports Minister was speaking after participating in the 53rd edition of “Sundays On Cycle – Goa Edition”, organised under the Fit India Movement along the scenic Goan coastline.
The event was dedicated to Vijay Diwas, paying tribute to the courage, discipline and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces, while promoting fitness, environmental awareness and an active lifestyle.
Dr Ramesh Tawadkar joined cyclists, youth, fitness enthusiasts and citizens from across Goa, cycling from Miramar Circle to Dona Paula and back, highlighting the importance of regular physical activity and the use of sustainable modes of transport.
The programme also witnessed the presence of Fit India Champions and Ambassadors, along with energising yoga and zumba sessions and various fitness activities conducted by the beach.
Addressing the gathering, Tawadkar reiterated that initiatives like Sundays On Cycle play a vital role in motivating people to stay physically active and environmentally responsible.
The event successfully reinforced the message of “Pedal to Fitness”, “Pollution Ka Solution” and “Fitter Bharat”, inspiring citizens to remain committed to health, unity and national pride, according to a statement issued from the Sports Minister’s Office.
