Mapusa: Peddem A delivered a spirited performance to become the only team from Goa to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Multi-State Masters Table Tennis Team Championship, currently underway at the Indoor Stadium in Campal, Panaji. Organised by the Panjim Morning Stars Sports Club, the tournament has seen fierce competition from top-ranked veteran players across several states.
The Peddem A squad—comprising Jesus Bonny, Shawn Soares, Anthony Mendes, Ratnadeep Shivani, and Joseph Sequeira—finished second in Group D, just behind the formidable Spinmoon 5 from Maharashtra. Their consistent and disciplined play earned them a spot in the knockouts, much to the delight of the home crowd. In the quarterfinals, they face a tough test against Toss Academy (Maharashtra), the Group A winners who have looked dominant so far.
The other teams in the quarterfinals include group toppers Toss Academy (Maharashtra), M.P. Lions (Madhya Pradesh), Accolades (Karnataka), and Spinmoon 5 (Maharashtra), as well as runners-up Sanmitra (Pune), Guru Academy (Maharashtra), and Karnataka Spinners. The stage is set for some electrifying clashes with matchups such as M.P. Lions vs Sanmitra, Accolades vs Guru Academy, and Spinmoon 5 vs Karnataka Spinners.
The championship, which features veteran categories of 39+, 49+, and 59+, has combined high-level table tennis with a spirit of sportsmanship and fellowship. As the tournament advances, all eyes will be on Peddem A as they carry Goa’s hopes into the final stages.
