MERCES: A 51-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being knocked down by a motorcycle at Voilem Bhat, Merces, on September 8.
According to Old Goa Police, the incident occurred at around 1:15 pm near Nandu Bar when the rider of a Honda motorcycle (GA-03-AX-3252), identified as Ian Reuben Fernandes (21), resident of Panaji, was proceeding from Merces towards Panaji. Police said he rode in a rash and negligent manner and went to the wrong side of the road, where he hit the pedestrian, Bhimrao T. Pachange (51), resident of Merces.
The injured was immediately shifted to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim, where he is undergoing treatment in Ward No. 104.
Based on a complaint lodged by Bhimrao’s son, Pritam B. Pachange (23), resident of Merces, police registered an offence on September 9 against the rider under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving.
Further investigation is being conducted by HC Dinesh Mulgaonkar of Old Goa Police Station.
