Vasco: A case has been registered at Vasco Police Station following a hit-and-run incident in which a pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being struck by a speeding motorcycle near the Chicalim Village Panchayat.
According to the state complaint filed by Head Constable Suresh Dassar (HC 4642), the incident occurred on July 16 at around 7:15 PM. An unknown rider of a sports bike, proceeding from Cortalim towards Chicalim Junction, allegedly rode the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner. As the rider approached the area opposite the Chicalim Panchayat, he hit a pedestrian, identified as Ajit Kerketta, a native of Jharkhand, who was crossing the road from Vishant Bar towards the Panchayat building.
As a result of the collision, Kerketta suffered head and bodily injuries. He was initially shifted to the Sub District Hospital in Chicalim and was later referred to the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim for further treatment.
The rider fled the scene, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused. Further investigation is being carried out by HC Suresh Dassar of Vasco Police Station.
