VASCO: A 78-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a scooter allegedly ridden in a rash and negligent manner at Varunapuri, Vasco.
According to a complaint filed by Head Constable Rajesh Bandodkar of Vasco Police Station, the incident occurred when the accused, identified as Amit Gupta, a resident of Headland Sada, was riding an Aviator scooter from Varunapuri Circle towards the Headland Sada Flyover. Gupta, reportedly riding at high speed and without due caution, allegedly hit Vishnu Aigal, a pedestrian from Mangoor Hill, who was crossing the road at the time.
As a result of the collision, the victim suffered a fractured right leg along with other bodily injuries. He was immediately rushed for medical treatment.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rash and negligent driving causing injury. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway under the supervision of HC Rajesh Bandodkar of Vasco Police Station.
