OLD GOA: Old Goa Police have registered an offence in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred near Karmali Railway Station in Carambolim.
According to police, the case was registered on March 20, 2026, at 11:16 am based on a complaint filed by Head Constable Vinod Fondvekar, attached to Old Goa Police Station.
The accident took place on March 19, 2026, at around 6:30 pm when the accused, identified as Sanket Gawade (30), a resident of Old Goa, was riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle. Police said the accused was allegedly riding in a rash and negligent manner from Mandur Dongri towards Old Goa.
Upon reaching near Karmali Railway Station, the rider reportedly dashed against a pedestrian, Badshah Shaikh (58), a resident of Baiguinim, Old Goa, causing him serious injuries.
The injured was being shifted to GMC Bambolim but succumbed to his injuries on the way and was declared brought dead at the hospital casualty.
An offence under sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered, and further investigation is underway by LPSI Jasvita Naik.
