VASCO: A 50-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run incident near Dabolim Airport on June 23, 2025.
The accused, identified as Ramesh Kumar Bind (37), a native of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly drove a trailer truck in a rash and negligent manner, endangering the lives of road users.
According to a complaint filed by Head Constable Rajesh Bandekar of Vasco Police Station, the truck was proceeding from Shantinagar towards the Dabolim Junction when it struck Harekrishna Ray, a native of Bihar, who was crossing the road.
The accused reportedly fled the scene without rendering any medical assistance or informing the police.
Ray sustained grievous injuries and later succumbed to them. A post-mortem conducted by the police surgeon revealed that the cause of death was due to “damage to the head, chest, abdomen and spine consequent to blunt force impact.”
Following the post-mortem, the deceased’s body was handed over to his family for final rites. Police have launched a search for the absconding driver and registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act.
