VERNA: A 56-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car at Upasnagar on June 24.
According to Verna Police, the accident occurred when Nayum Shaikh, 38, of Mangor Hill, allegedly drove his Maruti Suzuki Tour in a rash and negligent manner while travelling from Vasco. Upon reaching Upasnagar, he reportedly hit pedestrian Topilal Sunal, a local resident.
Police said the victim sustained grievous injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital, Bambolim. A case has been registered based on a complaint by Head Constable Sudhakar Jadhav of Verna Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
