BICHOLIM: A 55-year-old woman sustained grievous head injuries after being hit by a motorcycle near Cairo Hospital junction in Bicholim on Monday morning (October 13).
According to Bicholim Police, the accident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. when the rider of a motorcycle (GA-03-AU-4171), identified as Kishor Panjikar, 58, of Khorjuvem, Bardez, was proceeding from Mayem towards Bicholim and allegedly rode in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life.
Police said the rider lost control and dashed against the pedestrian, Rekha Vaigankar, a resident of Vaiginwada, Mayem, who was walking in the same direction.
The impact left her with a serious head injury, and she is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Bicholim Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law for rash and negligent driving.
Further investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Sameer Gauns of Bicholim Police Station.
