Porvorim: A 33-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run accident near Majestic Hotel on NH-66 at Porvorim.
According to police, the offence was registered on March 5 at 5:02 pm following a complaint filed by Lalhminghlui, daughter of F. Thangkhama, a resident of Skylark Apartment, Pundalik Nagar, Porvorim and a native of Aizawl, Bethlehem Vengththlang, Mizoram.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred on March 3 at around 5:45 pm when the victim was crossing the NH-66 road near Majestic Hotel in Porvorim. At that time, a white Swift Dzire car bearing registration number GJ-08-CR-4720, which was proceeding from Panaji towards Mapusa, allegedly dashed against her.
The impact caused grievous injuries to her left hand, right leg and face. After the accident, the driver allegedly fled the spot with the vehicle without providing medical assistance to the injured pedestrian or informing the police.
Porvorim Police have registered a case and further investigation is being carried out by HC Vikram Naik (Buckle No. 5315).
