A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being knocked down by a Bolero jeep in a hit-and-run incident near Queeny Junction, Upasnagar, Sancoale, on February 28 at around 8:45 pm.
According to a complaint lodged by HC 4750 Siddesh Dessai of Verna Police Station, the accused driver, identified as Laxman Singh, a resident of Chimbel, Old Goa and native of Rajasthan, was proceeding from Birla, Zuarinagar towards Chimbel.
On reaching near Queeny Junction at Upasnagar, Sancoale, he allegedly drove the Bolero jeep in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into a pedestrian from behind.
The injured pedestrian has been identified as Nathnial Kerketta, a native of Jharkhand, who was walking along the side of the road towards Meta Strip Company at Sancoale when the accident occurred. Due to the impact, he fell onto the tar road and sustained serious bodily injuries.
Police said the accused driver fled the scene with his vehicle without informing the police or providing medical assistance to the injured.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC 4750 Siddesh Dessai of Verna Police Station.
