NAVELIM: A 46-year-old pedestrian who was critically injured after being knocked down by a scooter in Navelim has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC) hospital in Bambolim.
The incident occurred on June 17, 2025, when the accused rider, Yolan Aaron Fernandes, a resident of Chinchinim, was riding an Access scooter from Navelim towards Chinchinim. According to the complaint filed by ASI Umesh Gaude of Margao Town Police Station, the rider was allegedly operating the two-wheeler in a rash and negligent manner. Near MD Furniture, Navelim, the scooter struck pedestrian Vijay Pal Yadav, a resident of Moddi, Navelim, who was walking along the left side of the road.
Yadav sustained serious head injuries and injuries on other parts of the body. He was initially rushed to the South District Hospital in Margao and later referred to GMC Bambolim, where he passed away on June 19 while undergoing treatment.
The deceased’s body has been preserved at GMC for medico-legal formalities.
Margao Town Police have registered an FIR under Cr. No. 46/2025 for offences punishable under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Aanushka Parab of Margao Town Police Station.
