PANAJI: Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has informed that the Additional District Magistrate cum Adjudicating Officer, North Goa has imposed penalties on food business operators, manufacturing and selling Sub-standard Jaggery, Gin and Fireball Whisky.
Penalty of Rs. 3000/- each was imposed on M/s Rajveer Traders, Shri Sohanlal Ghanchi, Shop No. 2, Anand vihar, Peddem, Mapusa; M/s Deepak Traders, Shri Deepak Kesarkar, Shop No. G-22, Phase II, Sattadar Arcade, Peddem, Mapusa and M/s Aaryan Mini SuperMarket, Shri. Jitendra Halankar, H.No. 815/16(4), Mahakhajan, Dhargal, Pernem for selling Sub-standard Jaggery(Loose) as it contains added synthetic food colours (Tartrazine & Sunset yellow) which is not permitted as per Regulation 2.8.4:2 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
Penalty of Rs. 50,000/- each was imposed on M/s Galestorm Distillery Pvt. Ltd. Shri. Pravin Kumar Agrawal, Plot No. 62, Pissurlem Industrial Estate, Sattari; M/s Sockholm Distillers and vinters Pvt. Ltd., Shri. Mukesh Jain, Shop No. G-2 and G-3, Ground Floor, Journalist Colony behind Sai Service, Porvorim, Bardez and M/s Feather Weight Wines, Shri. Rohan Bharadwaraj, H.No. 1146/B, Bagwado, Morjim, Pernem for selling Sub-standard Udaipur Gulab Gin containing added synthetic color (Erythrosine) which is not permitted as per Appendix A;II, 14.2.6 and Appendix A;IV, table-14, Food Category system 14.2.6 of Food Safety and standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulation 2011.
Similarly a penalty of Rs. 50,000/- was imposed on Shri. Michael John D’Souza, M/s John Distilleries Pvt. Ltd, Plot No. M-21/M-21A & M-21B, Cuncolim Industrial Estate, Cuncolim; for selling “Fireball Cinnamon Flavored Whisky” does not conform to the standards of Whisky as per Regulations No. 2.8 of Food Safety & Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) Regulations, 2018 & Food Category System No. 14.2.6 of Appendix-A as per seventh Amendment Regulations-2016, on the basis of tests performed.
Vivek Kerkar, M/s Liquid Gold, House No. 128, Carassvaddo, Mapusa, Bardez and Shri. Vishvendra Singh Tomar, M/s GA 11, The Liquor World (Retailer), H. No. 124/C, Narojiwada, Morjim, Pernem, Goa were also respondents in the case.
