People’s cooperation is a must to overcome any situation, whenever any situation like disaster or calamity occurs including the current prevailing pandemic situation, said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant at the dedication ceremony of critical COVID-19, Organized by the Rotary Club of Panaji Rivierà at Kala Academy in the city today.
Medical equipment’s were handed over by the Chief Minister Dr Sawant to the Director, Directorate of Health Services Dr.Jose D’Sa.
The Chief Minister congratulating the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera said that the Rotary Club have always contributed during the times of calamities of Polio and other disasters whenever such calamities occurs. The present generation who are enjoying the fruits of Goa Liberation need to contribute back to the State to make Goa self reliant.
The medical equipment’s provided by Rotary Club will help to strengthen further medical facilities in the State the Chief Minister remarked.
MLA and Chairman of Goa State Horticultural Corporation Shri Pravin Zantye said that the prevailing pandemic have badly affected the State, making the life of common man miserable. This has created problem of transport and medical facilities as well. However, the Government has been trying its best to ensure to provide better health facilities, providing solace to the people.
The Director of Health Services addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts of the Government led by Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant who he said is working relentlessly to tackle ongoing pandemic situation taking the stock of situation everyday and providing various medical facilities like Covid hospitals , testing lab and other required amenities to combat the situation. He appreciated Rotary Club for their gesture to donate medical equipment’s to Directorate of Health Services for further strengthening health care facilities in the State.
Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera during the COVID-19 pandemic months of April- May 2020 applied for a Global Grant of The ROTARY FOUNDATION, having value of USD 99565 or Seventy five Lakhs in Indian Rupees.
This Global grant was to contribute in making the healthcare system of our state of Goa stronger. All the critical COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing and Treatment Equipments, funded by the Global Grant has been handed over today to the Directorate of Health Services Government of Goa. With the help of Global Grant of Rupees 75 lakhs the equipment’s procured are RNA Extractors-02 numbers. This equipment is for segregating RNA from the swab samples of patients, which is then put into pcr Analyser.
The equipment’s comprises of RNA Extractors for segregating RNA from the swab samples of patients, which is then put into PCR Analyser; PCR Analyser that would give the results of positive or negative COVID-19 , ensuring accurate and higher throughput of testings per day.
The RNA extractor can extract RNA from 24 samples in an hour. The PCR Analyser can test 96 samples within an hour with high and very accurate testings. Our State of Goa would immensely benefit from identifying COVID-19 positive patients from the negative ones.
In addition to these diagnostic testing equipment like Paediatric Ventilator for children who need ICU care; Orbital laryngoscope to check condition of the larynx ,or throat, on a video screen. Condition of larynx is an indication of COVID-19 infection; Respiratory Humidifier (or High Flow Oxygen supplier) for stabilising a critical patient in ICU with high Oxygen flow, before putting on a ventilator etc.
