Pernem: Pernem Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case following the death of a 23-year-old man from Pernem while undergoing medical treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
According to police, UD No. 15/2025 under Section 194 of the BNSS was registered on December 21 at around 9.25 am after information was received from the Casualty Police (CP), GMC Bambolim, that the patient, identified as Tukaram Vithoba Zore (23), a resident of Dhangar Wada, Murmuse, Pernem, had expired in Ward No. 144 during treatment.
Police inquiry revealed that the deceased had been admitted to GMC on November 26, 2025, as a case of ethanol consumption at his residence. Further inquiry indicated that he had allegedly consumed ethanol due to frustration and stress.
During the course of the inquiry, a dying declaration statement was recorded by the Joint Mamlatdar of Pernem, wherein it was stated that no foul play was suspected in the death. A post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr. M. S. Swathy Krishna, who certified the cause of death as multi-organ damage in a person with an alleged history of consumption of paraquat.
After completion of formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for final religious rites. Further inquiry in the case is in progress.
