MAPUSA: After receiving a complaint from the girl’s mother, Mapusa Police have filed a case against a young person who is alleged to have threatened, harassed, and assaulted a young lady enrolled in Class 12.
According to reports, the event happened in Mapusa on December 2 at around midday. The minor allegedly became friends with the accused, Shourya Mayekar of Shetyewado-Duler, who then started to follow her.
The accusation claims that Mayekar threatened the girl with severe repercussions and verbally assaulted her using profane language.
The police have filed an offense under many sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Goa Children’s Act in response to the mother’s complaint. Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, which deal with sexual harassment of minors, and Sections 352, 74, 78, 79, 118(1), and 351(3) of the BNS Act, which deal with assault, abuse, and threats, are among the charges.
The case has been opened by Mapusa Police, who are currently collecting additional evidence.
