PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that a sharp vigil is being kept on the activities of PFI and their members and supporters, including accused Altaf Hussain.
“Altaf Sayad and 23 of his close associates were thoroughly interrogated in the case. During the course of the investigation, it came to light that Altaf Sayad has been funding a political group called ‘We For Fatorda’ also,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the investigation is still under progress, and during the investigation, it also came to light that Hyderabad Police has also registered a case against Altaf Sayad under Section 387, 347, r/w 34 IPC.
“Pursuant to the imposition of ban by the Government of India, a large number of activists (32) of PFI was arrested under Preventive Sections of Cr. PC. These arrests were made in the areas of Police Stations Fatorda, Police Station Maina-Curtorim, Police Station Vasco, Police Station Valpoi, Police Station Ponda and Police Station Margao,” he added.
Sawant said that all the offices of the outfit were sealed, and various documents related to the outfit were seized and handed over to the respective District Magistrate.
“ A sharp watch is being kept over the erstwhile members of the banned outfit. Even before the outfit was declared banned, Goa Police registered cases against the outfit for organizing unlawful assembly. In this regard, two cases under relevant sections of IPC were registered in Police Station Fatorda, and in both the cases, 18 persons were arrested,” he said.
