PANAJI: The Public Works Department (PWD), Goa, has announced the first phase of closure on the left side main carriageway of NH-66 between P55 (O’Coqueiro junction) and P70 (Mall de Goa) to facilitate the critical activity of launching precast segments for the six-lane elevated corridor project.
According to a notification issued by Executive Engineer Jude A.D. Carvalho of PWD’s Works Division-VII (NH), the closure will remain in force for all types of vehicular traffic from August 24, 2025, to January 31, 2026. The move is aimed at ensuring hindrance-free and speedy completion of the project while prioritizing commuter safety.
Traffic heading towards Panaji will be diverted via B.B. Borkar Road, with suitable and safe access to be provided for local residents and establishments along the closed stretch of NH-66 at designated locations.
The PWD has directed the contracting agency to install prominent signboards indicating diversion routes, no-parking zones, and other safety measures, along with posting traffic marshals round-the-clock under police supervision.
The project, part of the construction of a six-lane elevated corridor from Km 508.000 to Km 513.150, including approaches on NH-66, is being executed on EPC mode by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
