MARGAO: Pidadigal Sports Club down Rumba United Club 3-0 to enter into the quarterfinals of the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial 9-a-side football tournament Organised by Agxem Sports Club and played at St.Alex Church ground Curtorim.
The game started at a slow pace and both teams tried to take control of the ball as the ground was slippery due to overnight rain but Pidadigal drew the first blood in the 15th minute through Rywan Fernandes and again he doubled the lead in the 20th minute of play to complete his brace while Rumbas olive Colaco header missed the target before half time. At breather, Pidadigal were leading 2-0.
As the match progressed in the second half Rumba United attacked the Pidadigal defence with a combination of Alcino Paes, Rama Zalmi and Movin Menezes but the defence of Pidadigal stood like rock and denied scoring opportunities.
Later on, Pidadigal further inflated the lead through Miguel Fernandes in the 52nd minute of play. The goalkeeper of Rumba United Matvey Mascarenhas saved three one to one chance and .excel under the bar.
