Panaji: Pidadigal marched into the semifinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament with a resounding 4-1 victory over Batora United. The tournament is being organized by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club and is currently underway at the St. Alex Church Ground in Curtorim.
Batora United took an early lead in the 6th minute when Granville Barretto found the back of the net with a precise strike. Pidadigal responded swiftly, with James Fernandes coming close in the 10th minute. He made amends just eight minutes later, heading in the equalizer with a perfectly timed glancing effort.
James Fernandes continued to be the difference-maker, giving Pidadigal a 2-1 lead in the 35th minute with a sharp finish. He completed his hat-trick early in the second half, curling a stunning shot past the goalkeeper in the 46th minute to make it 3-1.
The win was sealed in the 51st minute when Anthony Fernandes added a fourth goal for Pidadigal, capping off a dominant performance.
James Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his exceptional hat-trick, with the award presented by Micheal Paes.
