VASCO: A serious accident occurred near Chowgule Garden, Baina, when a scooter being driven recklessly by a youth without a valid driving licence collided with another two-wheeler, resulting in critical head injuries to the pillion rider.
As per a complaint filed by Head Constable Suresh Dassar of Vasco Police Station, the accused rider, Ahmed Kaddi (27), a resident of Mangoor Hill, was operating a Honda Dio scooter in a rash and negligent manner. He was accompanied by Rafiq Bepari (39) of Headland Sada as his pillion rider.
The duo was reportedly travelling from Baina Market toward Dr. Baban Parulekar Hospital road when Kaddi allegedly lost control near Chowgule Garden and collided with a Honda Activa belonging to Goa Rajee Auto Pvt. Ltd., which was being transported for accessory fitting.
The impact caused the pillion rider to fall and sustain serious head injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was not in possession of a valid driving licence at the time of the accident. A case has been registered for rash and negligent driving, endangering human life, and driving without a licence.
Further investigation is being conducted by HC Suresh Dassar of Vasco Police Station.
