Old Goa: Old Goa Police have registered a case against a Chimbel resident after a 9-year-old girl was injured in a dog attack involving a pitbull. The incident took place on July 26 at around 3:00 PM in Indiranagar, Chimbel, Tiswadi.
According to the complaint filed by Shamshir Davangiri, 31, a resident of Indiranagar, the pitbull—owned by Riyaz Mallur, also a resident of the same locality—was left unrestrained and without proper precautions. The dog allegedly attacked and bit Davangiri’s minor daughter, causing bodily injuries.
Based on the complaint, Old Goa Police registered Crime No. 104/2025 under Section 291 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for negligent conduct with respect to animals, along with Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, which pertains to protection of children from harm or danger.
The investigation is being conducted by LPSI Jasvita Naik of Old Goa Police Station.
