Expressing condolences on X, he extended sympathy to the families of the victims and reaffirmed India’s firm stance against all forms of terrorism.
“Strongly condemn the ghastly terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, Australia, targeting people celebrating the first day of Hanukkah,” PM Modi said. He stressed that India maintains zero tolerance for terrorism and stands in solidarity with Australia during this tragic time.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also condemned the attack in the strongest terms and expressed sorrow for the loss of lives, offering support to the victims’ families.
The attack unfolded when two gunmen opened fire at the Jewish festival gathering, shocking the local community. One attacker was shot dead by police, while the second was arrested in critical condition. Emergency services rushed 29 people to nearby hospitals, and authorities discovered suspected improvised explosive devices in a vehicle linked to the deceased offender.
