New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on his 75th birthday, praising his leadership, contributions, and unwavering commitment to national service. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, PM Modi described Bhagwat’s tenure as one of the most transformative periods in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) 100-year history.
“Inspired by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Shri Mohan Bhagwat Ji has dedicated his entire life to societal transformation and strengthening the spirit of harmony and fraternity,” PM Modi wrote on ‘X.’ He further prayed for Bhagwat’s long and healthy life in service of the nation.
In a detailed blog post, PM Modi recounted Bhagwat’s journey from his early days as a ‘Pracharak’ during challenging times, including the Emergency period, to becoming the RSS’s Sarsanghchalak in 2009. Modi highlighted Bhagwat’s grassroots involvement across rural areas, his leadership during national movements, and his emphasis on nation-first values.
Recalling personal experiences, Modi mentioned his close association with Mohan Bhagwat’s family and his father, the late Madhukarrao Bhagwat. He said, “Such was Madhukarrao Ji’s passion for nation-building that it groomed his son to dedicate his life toward India’s regeneration.”
The Prime Minister also addressed common misconceptions about the role of a Pracharak, explaining that it represents a deep commitment to social work rather than merely campaigning.
PM Modi credited Bhagwat’s leadership with embracing continuity while adapting to changing circumstances. “If I can think of two attributes Mohan Ji has held close to his heart and imbibed in his work style, they are continuity and adaptation,” Modi wrote.
Under Bhagwat’s stewardship, key reforms such as uniform changes and revised training programs were introduced, strengthening RSS’s presence among the youth and modern platforms. The RSS’s response during the Covid-19 pandemic was another testament to his leadership, as technological solutions were adopted to sustain its activities despite lockdowns and disruptions.
PM Modi also highlighted Bhagwat’s involvement in national campaigns like the Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, urging RSS members to actively support social welfare initiatives. His Panch Parivartan framework, focusing on social harmony, family values, environmental awareness, national pride, and civic duties, was praised for promoting societal well-being.
Describing Bhagwat’s personality, the Prime Minister noted his calm demeanor and exceptional listening skills, calling him a leader who embodies both vision and decisive action.
This year marks a significant milestone as the RSS celebrates its centenary alongside other national observances such as Vijaya Dashami, Gandhi Jayanti, and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary. Modi remarked, “We are fortunate to have such a wise and hardworking Sarsanghchalak guiding the organisation in these times.”
Concluding his message, PM Modi reflected on Bhagwat’s vision of unity and compassion, stating, “Mohan Ji is a living example of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, showing that when we rise above boundaries and consider everyone as our own, it strengthens trust, brotherhood and equality in society.”
The Prime Minister ended his message by once again wishing Bhagwat a long and healthy life dedicated to the service of the nation.
