New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised BJP leaders JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and S. Jaishankar for their powerful interventions during the Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, calling their speeches “phenomenal” and reflective of the government’s unwavering commitment to national security.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi commended the three senior leaders for clearly articulating the Centre’s position on India’s counter-terrorism response following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Sharing a clip of BJP national president JP Nadda’s address, the Prime Minister highlighted how Nadda had detailed the government’s prompt and resolute response.
“Our government responded to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam with full determination and resolve. JP Nadda ji elaborately explained in the Rajya Sabha how Operation Sindoor succeeded in achieving its objectives,” Modi said.
He added that the address underscored how the government has placed national security above all else, and how the military operation achieved complete success in neutralising terror threats.
In another post, PM Modi lauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his strong and categorical response in Parliament.
“A phenomenal speech by Home Minister Amit Shah Ji in the Rajya Sabha. He categorically expressed our Government’s point of view on key aspects relating to national security, uprooting terror networks, and the success of Operation Sindoor,” the PM wrote.
Shah had forcefully rejected claims of India declaring war on Pakistan, reiterating that Operation Sindoor was a limited counter-terror operation carried out in self-defence after the Pahalgam attack. He also declared that no talks would be held with Pakistan unless it completely dismantled its terror infrastructure.
Praising External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, PM Modi said:
“EAM Dr Jaishankar Ji’s exceptional speech in the Rajya Sabha emphasised India’s efforts to make terrorism a subject of global attention. He also talked about India’s fitting response through Operation Sindoor and how we are furthering the safety of our citizens.”
Jaishankar had used his time in the Upper House to underline India’s growing influence in international counter-terror diplomacy and highlighted how Operation Sindoor was consistent with India’s strategic and sovereign rights.
Operation Sindoor was launched in May in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The opposition had raised several questions during the debate, including referring to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent claims about mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Rahul Gandhi had earlier accused the Modi government of lacking political will in dealing with Pakistan.
While PM Modi delivered his initial remarks in the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were led by Nadda, Shah, and Jaishankar. Tensions escalated during the session, especially after a heated exchange between Shah and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, leading to a walkout by opposition MPs over the PM’s absence in the Upper House during the debate.
Despite the opposition’s protest, the government firmly reiterated that Operation Sindoor was a successful, calculated response that fulfilled its objective of neutralising cross-border terror threats without any third-party involvement.
