New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a strong warning to Pakistan, declaring that any future talks between the two countries will be limited strictly to terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This statement marks his first public address following Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike against terror infrastructure across the border.
“If there are talks with Pakistan, they will be on terrorism. If there are talks, they will be on PoK,” PM Modi asserted, sending a clear message to Islamabad.
He emphasized that India’s patience has limits and that nuclear blackmail will no longer be tolerated. The Prime Minister reiterated that India will not distinguish between terrorists and those who support or shelter them—be it individuals or state actors.
“India will respond firmly. There is no difference between those who commit terrorism and those who back them. Both are enemies of peace and humanity,” he said.
Backdrop: Operation Sindoor
PM Modi’s address comes after India conducted precision airstrikes on nine terror hubs deep inside Pakistan and PoK on May 6, in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians—most of them tourists visiting Baisaran meadows.
Among the key targets eliminated were the Markaz Taiba in Muridke—Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters—and Bahawalpur Markaz, a Jaish-e-Mohammad indoctrination center. PM Modi referred to these sites as “global universities of terrorism.”
He also confirmed that Operation Sindoor is not over but only paused, underlining that Indian forces remain fully capable of striking again if provoked.
No Safe Haven for Terror
In a blunt warning, the Prime Minister made it clear that any location inside Pakistan that harbors or supports terrorism remains within the reach of Indian forces.
His remarks follow a series of diplomatic and public addresses, including his speech after the Pahalgam attack in Bihar’s Madhubani, and his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast. He also raised the issue while hosting Angolan President Joao Lourenco at Hyderabad House.
With this firm stance, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and safeguarding national security.
