Hisar: In a triumphant address in Haryana’s Hisar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s remarkable aviation expansion, noting a stunning rise from just 74 airports before 2014 to over 150 today. The inaugural flight from Hisar to Ayodhya marked a significant milestone in enhancing regional connectivity, underscoring the government’s commitment to accessible air travel. Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a new terminal at Maharaja Agrasen Airport, solidifying Hisar’s position as a pivotal aviation hub.
The new terminal project at Maharaja Agrasen Airport is a robust investment valued at over Rs 410 crore, featuring a modern passenger terminal, a dedicated cargo facility, and an air traffic control building. Scheduled flights will operate twice weekly to Ayodhya and thrice weekly to destinations including Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, amplifying Haryana’s aviation network. This development aligns with PM Modi’s broader vision of inclusive growth, as he honored Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to uplifting marginalized communities.
The UDAN scheme, launched in 2017, has been instrumental in this aviation boom, increasing regional connectivity by operationalizing over 90 airports, heliports, and water aerodromes. This massive infrastructure push has not only made air travel more accessible but has also bolstered economic growth and social inclusion. Beyond aviation, PM Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for an 800 MW thermal power unit in Yamuna Nagar, enhancing Haryana’s energy security, and will also establish a Compressed Biogas Plant to improve waste management and generate clean energy. The Rewari Bypass project is another significant development aimed at reducing travel times and fostering economic growth in the region.
