The framework follows the recently completed Sport Programme Review, which has already outlined the core disciplines for the Games. These include athletics, swimming, table tennis, bowls, weightlifting, artistic gymnastics, netball and boxing, along with their para-sport counterparts.
The remaining sports will be confirmed next year, with discussions beginning shortly. Disciplines currently under consideration include archery, badminton, basketball 3×3 and wheelchair basketball 3×3, beach volleyball, cricket T20, cycling, diving, hockey, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rugby sevens, shooting, squash, triathlon and wrestling. Hosts will also have the option to propose up to two additional events that reflect India’s sporting traditions.
