PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will be present for the Goa Liberation Day celebrations on December 19 in Goa.
“Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will be present for the Goa Liberation Day celebrations on December 19 in Goa; We are marking the 60th year of state’s liberation. He will be addressing the karyakartas and people of Goa from the Shayam Prasad Mukherjee Stadium,” said CM Sawant.
Modi will also participate in a grand event organized to celebrate the completion of 60 years of the state’s freedom from Portuguese rule. Ahead of the Goa polls, the BJP is gearing up to implement the party’s strategies.
Earlier in 2020, the BJP government also held a series of programs, including seminars, exhibitions, and cultural events to showcase the government’s work, identity, and struggle for independence.
According to a senior BJP leader, the celebrations are not only about celebrating events but also about celebrating developments, especially in the state’s rural areas. “The Prime Minister attending the celebrations will be one of his pre-election visits and few more may follow before the announcement of election dates,” he said.
During the year-long celebration that started last year, the BJP government held a series of exhibitions, seminars and cultural events to showcase work of the Goa government, its identity and struggle.
“Our government uses the celebration as an opportunity to strike a connection with the people ahead of the next year’s Assembly election,” a BJP leader said.
