New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Manipur on September 13 for a four-hour trip aimed at engaging with violence-hit communities, inaugurating key infrastructure, and addressing public gatherings. The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state following months of ethnic unrest and displacement.
The Prime Minister will arrive from Mizoram and is expected to land at Churachandpur between 11:30 am and 12 noon. His itinerary includes a one-hour public address in Churachandpur, followed by another gathering at Kangla Fort in Imphal, where he will interact with local residents and lawmakers. All Members of the Legislative Assembly have been invited to attend both events.
Depending on weather conditions, the Prime Minister may either travel by air or take the road route to reach the venues. After the public meetings, PM Modi is expected to engage with families currently residing in relief camps due to the recent violence. While it is yet to be confirmed if he will visit the camps in person, officials confirmed that interaction with the affected families is an integral part of the planned programme.
In addition to these engagements, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed police headquarters and the Secretariat building. He will also lay foundation stones for several upcoming development projects. Following the programme, he is scheduled to depart for Guwahati around 4 pm.
In preparation for the visit, security forces have stepped up operations across the state. Sensitive areas are being combed to recover hidden weapons and dismantle suspected militant hideouts. Preventive detentions have been carried out in vulnerable districts to neutralize potential threats, while efforts are underway to remove roadblocks to ensure unhindered movement for the Prime Minister’s convoy and emergency services.
Coordination between central paramilitary forces, state police, and intelligence agencies has been strengthened, with regular meetings taking place to streamline operations. Surveillance has also been extended to social media platforms, with authorities actively monitoring for unlawful or provocative content that could escalate tensions.
A multi-layered security framework, including drone surveillance, sniffer dog units, and quick response teams, will be deployed at both venues to safeguard the Prime Minister and ensure the smooth execution of the events.
This visit marks a significant step in the state’s journey toward peace and development, with the Prime Minister’s engagement expected to bolster relief efforts and infrastructure-building in the conflict-affected regions.
