New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Uttarakhand’s 25th foundation year by unveiling a commemorative postal stamp and launching a wide range of development projects worth over Rs 8,140 crore. The announcements were made during the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations held at the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun.
The Prime Minister inaugurated projects valued at more than Rs 930 crore and laid the foundation stones for works exceeding Rs 7,210 crore. The initiatives span essential sectors such as water supply, irrigation, energy, urban infrastructure, technical education, sports facilities, and skill development.
A key highlight was the release of Rs 62 crore in support under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 28,000 farmers across the state.
Among the inaugurated projects were the expansion of Dehradun’s water supply network covering 23 zones under the AMRUT scheme, a new electrical substation in Pithoragarh, solar installations across government buildings, and a new AstroTurf hockey ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital. The interventions are expected to strengthen essential public services and enhance sports and energy capacity within the state.
Two major water-sector projects were launched through foundation stone ceremonies. The Song Dam Drinking Water Project will supply 150 million litres per day to Dehradun, greatly improving the city’s long-term water security. The Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital will provide irrigation support, drinking water, and power generation, adding significant value to the region’s agricultural and energy sectors.
Additional projects include new electrical substations, the establishment of a dedicated Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and a modern dairy processing facility in Nainital.
The Silver Jubilee event offered the state an opportunity to showcase its progress since its formation, while the latest development package reflects the Centre’s commitment to accelerating Uttarakhand’s growth trajectory in the years ahead.
