POINGUINIM: Following complaints from local residents, the Poinguinim Panchayat has directed a builder to halt the alleged illegal construction of an additional floor at Survey No. 163/9-B in the Galgibaga area.
Signed by Sarpanch V.P. Poinguinim, the order specifically instructs M/s Fly East West Pvt. Ltd to stop construction and informs the builder that their application for the proposed construction of a commercial/hotel building, compound wall, and swimming pool will remain pending until the matter is resolved by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA).
The panchayat acted after receiving a complaint from villagers alleging that the builder was adding floors in excess of the sanctioned construction licence. The stop-work order also references a GCZMA show-cause notice, which directed that no civil works be carried out at the site.
Sarpanch V.P. Poinguinim clarified that the panchayat reviewed all relevant details during a meeting and decided to issue the stop-work order while keeping the builder’s revised application for the upgrade from residential to commercial use on hold pending GCZMA’s decision.
