PONDA: The Ponda Police have registered an offence against a police constable for allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old resident of Curti, Ponda.
According to police, the incident took place on September 10 at around 10:40 pm at Antruz Nagar, Curti. The complainant, Mr. Shreyash Hardikar, alleged that the accused, identified only as Vinod, attacked him with a wooden rod (“danno”), striking him on the neck and causing injuries. The constable, who was off duty at the time, also allegedly damaged Hardikar’s mobile phone and used abusive language.
Based on the complaint, Crime No. 145/2025 has been registered under sections 118(1) (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 324(2) (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 352 (assault or use of criminal force) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Police officials have assured that strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any personnel found guilty of misconduct, reiterating that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
