SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant asked all tenants to complete forms by October 10th, stating that tenant and labour verification has become mandatory.
CM briefed the Media after a high-level meeting with the Police Department.
“October 1 through October 10 is the mandatory submission period for tenant verification applications to police stations. A fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the homeowner if someone is discovered living there without proper identification,” said Sawant
CM said that tenant verification paperwork must thus be completed by homeowners and turned in to the appropriate police station.
According to the CM, industrial unit contractors will also have to register with the Labour Department; if they don’t, they won’t be able to work in the state.
“The concerned police station will require a list of employees from the contractors. It has been noted that most crimes are committed by migrants,” he stated.
All police officers who have been assigned to a single place for three years or more would be reassigned, the CM continued. The next three to four days will see the start of the transfer order procedure. Constables, PIs, PSIs, and officers up to the rank of DySP will all be moved from traffic to coastal police to police, he said.
He said that the government will not give in to pressure in this regard, pointing out that some police officers have become accustomed to their existing positions. In order to ensure that they are always available when needed, Sawant also stated that police inspectors will be required to live close to the police station where they are assigned.
He went on to say that 20% of the police will henceforth be assigned to night shifts.
According to Sawant, the government would take steps to strengthen security in response to the Mumbai security alert, which was sparked by a tip from CIA agents.
In an interview with reporters, he stated, “Mumbai received a variety of alerts yesterday. Tenant verification becomes required because Goa is a coastline state that gets fishing boats and has witnessed a rise in the number of migrants.”
He said that during the security review meeting, police department officials received a briefing from Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar.
