VALPOI: After the battery theft incident at
Honda-Sonshi-Naveli areas in Sattari taluka and other areas were reported missing, the police team and locals have become more vigilant.
Taking note of the people’s apprehension, Police Inspector Harish Gavas of Valpoi Police Station held an important meeting at Honda and took stock of the situation.
The locals appealed to the police to be more vigilant as the thieves are on a prowl.
This was the first such chain theft incident in the area overnight.
Noting the seriousness of the incident, inspector Harish Gawas had organized a meeting near the Honda police station. Entrepreneurs, businessmen were invited to this meeting to communicate with them in detail.
The truck owners present at the meeting gave detailed information about the theft in the meeting.
Locals said that as the Ganesh Chaturthi festival will be celebrated in just a few days, many families living in this area will move to their ancestral homes and their houses will be empty and pose a risk of theft.
He also requested the families go to their ancestral homes to provide detailed information at the police station for police to keep a close watch on the security.
He also appealed to the citizens to inform the police if they are aware of the theft of batteries.
He said that night patrols would be intensified in different parts of the village.
Meanwhile, according to the information given by some citizens and businessmen, quite a few incidents of thefts have started happening in the Honda area.
This has created an atmosphere of fear among the businessmen.
