PANAJI: Concerned over the rising crime incidents, including chain snatching and thefts ahead of the festive season, the Police have advised citizens to install surveillance systems on the premises for security.
Superintendent of Police, North Shobhit Saxena, has urged citizens to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to prevent thefts.
He also appealed to citizens to deposit their belongings in the bank lockers for safety.
The Goa Police has also cautioned the public to be safe when travelling.
“I urge people to install CCTV’S and also kindly deposit all-important belongings in the bank account to be safe. Also, inform the neighbours about your travel,” he added.
SP North also informed that Police patrolling will also be enhanced in and around residential complexes across the state to avoid break-ins during the festival.
Meanwhile, SP disclosed that those 3 arrested for assaulting a doctor on duty have a criminal history.
Goa Police had arrested three persons yesterday night in connection with the assault on a doctor at a private hospital.
“We are very strict on such cases and have arrested 3 persons in connection with the assault on a doctor on duty. We have also come to know that those three also accused previous criminal involvements, and we are conducting further investigation now,” said Saxena.
He further said that the 3 accused have been identified as Rohish Salgaonkar (27), Krishna Savlo Naik (32) and Rohil Salgaonkar (32) all residents of Porvorim and have been arrested under stringent Goa Medicare Act, 2013.
Speaking on the dead body of an Irish female, SP said that she has been identified as Mary Gertrude McNamara (66).
“She was found dead at her rented apartment at Candolim Calangute police are suspecting that the lady might have died on Aug 28,” he added.
Saxena informed that the post mortem has been carried out, and the reports are awaited.
