PONDA: Senior citizens aged 85 and above and persons with disabilities will be able to cast their votes for the Ponda Assembly bye-polls over a three-day period, from March 29 to 31, according to a notification issued by Returning Officer Pandurang Talgaonkar on Thursday.
Voting for these absentee voter categories will be conducted from 9 am to 5 pm, and the Election Commission of India has provided them the facility to vote via Postal Ballot. The Returning Officer’s office has already received duly filled Form 12-D submissions from eligible absentee voters. Separate polling teams will visit the registered addresses listed in these forms to facilitate voting.
In a separate notification, Talgaonkar also announced that voters on election duty who opted for the Postal Ballot facility by submitting Form 12 by March 27 will cast their votes at the Facilitation Centre in the Mamlatdar Ponda office, 3rd floor, Government Complex, on the scheduled dates.
The absentee voting facility through postal ballots extends to several categories of electors on election duty, including polling parties, senior magistrates, Flying Squad members, AROs, AEROs, police personnel, Goa IRB, Home Guards, and other non-government staff engaged in election activities on polling day.
Voting for all eligible absentee voters, including senior citizens, persons with disability, and election duty staff, will take place from March 29 to 31 at the designated facilitation centre.
