PONDA: Ponda Block Congress Committee President John Pareira has alleged that the MGP-BJP rising panel of Ponda ruled Ponda Municipal Council for the past four years but failed to bring development. Basic amenities continue to remain poor despite this rising panel.
Addressing media along with party office-bearer Tripolo Souza, Rajesh Verenkar said that only development achieved in Ponda by the past Congress Party Government is visible and that the MGP-BJP Rising Ponda Panel that jointly ruled Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) for the past four years failed on the development front and despite several promises by Rising Ponda Panel none of it were able to fulfil.
John further alleged that said Rising Ponda panel had given several promises before coming to power at PMC. He recalled that there were promises of multilevel parking in Ponda City, proper utilization of Ponda Market Complex, traffic management plan, Shifting of Ponda Police Station and creating parking spaces, Public toilet facilities at various places in City, Activate the CCTV cameras in Ponda, Completion of Golden Jubilee Project, Sewerage Treatment Plant in one year but none of the above works promised by Rising Ponda Panel are fulfilled today. Only photos of leaders are seen with New Council and Chairpersons.
On account of pending work on sewerage, the roads are in bad condition, and the Ponda locals are suffering a lot of problems, including health issues.
Rajesh Verenkar said that all major development works are incomplete, including Ponda Market Complex, Golden Jubilee Project, parking projects, Sewerage Treatment Plant and roads are in worst condition except some main roads in City.
Tripolo Souza said the Congress Government constructed Ponda Sub District Hospital ten years ago, and the BJP government inaugurated it but failed to provide essential medical facilities. He said there are doctors in Hospital but lacks machinery and medical instruments for diagnosing patients.
There are doctors, but a lack of instruments forced the patients to visit private medical Hospitals or GMC hospital Bambolim. This Hospital still doesn’t have a CT scan machine that is essential for patients’ treatments,” he added.
