PANAJI: Finally, two months after the closing of the KTC bus stand shed for passengers, the Transport Department has decided to repair and renovate the KTC bus stand shed by spending around Rs 1 crore; this was stated to media by Power Minister and local MLA Sudin Dhavlikar.
He spoke to the media after the inauguration of 220 KVA Transformer installed at the KTC Bus Stand and Chiruputem area.
Present on the occasion present were Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik, Power Department Engineers Mr Bartan, Keshav Gaude, and KTC officials were present.
The PWD officials today inspected the shed. The officials said the work order had been issued to the contractor, and the work on renovation would start soon and be complete in three months.
It may be recalled that the KTC Bus Stand shed was closed for passengers three months ago after there was a structural report that the passengers shed is posing a risk to commuters. The Commuters currently standing in the open while waiting for buses.
This is an interstate Bus Stand. The officials said a temporary shed was erected to provide shelter to passengers. However, passengers said this shed is too small like a bus stop shed, and hardly few passengers could accommodate in it during rain.
