QUELOSSIM: A 48-year-old man from Ponda lost his life after his scooter rammed into an electrical distribution panel at Quelossim late Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Jeevan Naik, a resident of Agapur, Durbhat, was returning home from Quelossim when the accident occurred at Uddo, Quelossim . Police said he lost control over his Access scooter and crashed into the roadside electrical panel.
Naik was initially rushed to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, and later referred to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police conducted an inquest and sent the body for post-mortem examination at GMC. The autopsy report stated the cause of death as “haemorrhage and shock due to blunt chest trauma consequent to blunt force impact.”
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for final rites.
Verna police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
