PONDA: Police in Ponda have registered a case against five individuals for allegedly misappropriating a bag containing ₹8,80,000 in cash and approximately 750 grams of gold ornaments that had been entrusted to them for safe custody. The case was filed following a complaint by Prema Shetty of Upper Bazar, Ponda.
According to the complaint, prior to November 29, 2025, the complainant’s daughter had handed over the valuables to the accused — B. Gayathri Shridhar Naidu, B. Damodar Naidu, B. Kishor Shridhar Naidu, B. Mohana Kumar Naidu and Amarnath, all residents of Ponda — for keeping them securely at their residence. However, the accused persons, acting with common intention, allegedly misappropriated the valuables for their personal use and failed to return them, amounting to criminal breach of trust.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Pratik Bhat Prabhu of Ponda Police Station.
