PONDA: The vendors of the Ponda market are furious over a large number of Karnataka vendors directly coming to Ponda Market with loaded vehicles of goods and eating into their business.
The local vendor’s said that during the Diwali festival, the Karnataka vendors started selling large quantities of Marigold flowers and Sugarcanes required for Tulsi Vivah.
Ponda Budhwar Peth Market Vendors President Shankar Naik said the local vendors have no business as a large number of Karnataka vendors coming from Hubli, Dharwad directly coming to Ponda Market by loaded vehicles of Marigold and Sugarcanes and unloading and selling at Ponda Market and eating business of local vendors on Diwali occasion.
He demanded that PMC take action against these vendors as local vendors struggle to sell marigold, sugarcane, and other goods.
If Karnataka vendors come to Goa, he questioned where Goans would go to earn a livelihood.
The local Ponda vendors claimed that they have no business as Karnataka vendors eat their business on festival occasions.
“The last time they sold marigold flowers on the Laxmipoojan festival a few days back and now on the Tulsi Vivah festival,” they said.
Similarly, the same thing they did for Ganesh Festival.
Vendors said PMC should not encourage them.
