PANAJI: The distribution of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers in the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet will be carried out on Monday, Goa BJP President Damu Naik said.
Naik explained that the party had deliberately chosen the day keeping in mind the religious sentiments of the majority community. “As Hindus select an auspicious muhurta for important events, the portfolio distribution will be done on the day of Lord Damodar,” he said.
Two senior legislators — Digambar Kamat and Ramesh Tawadkar — were sworn in as ministers earlier this week. While their induction has already altered the political equations in the State, their respective departments are yet to be officially announced.
