PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the utter apathy and administrative failure of the BJP-led government, which has once again left citizens to fend for themselves in miserable conditions. Residents of Pundalik Nagar in Porvorim were forced to endure over 12 hours without electricity or water—basic necessities of any civilized society.
Despite being initially assured that power supply would be restored by 9 AM today, residents were left frustrated and helpless as the Electricity Department casually extended the restoration timeline to 3 PM. This casual attitude, reportedly due to transformer damage, has exposed the sheer lack of preparedness and contingency planning on the part of the government.
Amarnath Panjikar, Chairman of the Media Department, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, slammed the BJP government for its “Stone Age governance” and said:
“It is disgraceful that in the year 2025, Porvorim residents—just minutes away from the capital—have to suffer without water and power for over half a day. The BJP government is quick to make tall claims of development, but where is the basic infrastructure? Where is the accountability?”
The GPCC demands immediate restoration of power and water services to the affected area and calls for a thorough investigation into the repeated transformer failures and poor maintenance. The government must also issue a public apology to the residents for the prolonged disruption and hardship.
Residents deserve better than broken promises, shifting deadlines, and administrative negligence stated Amarnath Panjikar.
