PANAJI: As the covid infectivity rate crosses 10 per cent, the State government is considering imposing night curfew from January 7, to break the chain of virus.
The Task Force on COVID19 management under the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant held its meeting today to review the coronavirus situation in the State.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Sawant said that government is considering imposing night curfew in the State from January 7.
The night curfew is expected from 11.00pm to 6.00am, every day.
Task force member Dr Shekhar Salkar on the other hand that the order on night curfew is expected either today or tomorrow. He said that curfew will be implemented from 11.00pm to 6.00am strictly.
Salkar also said that from tomorrow, schools for Std VII to XIII will be shut till January 26. Even the colleges will conduct classes in online mode, he said.
Salkar said that students, in the age group of 15-18 years, however will be allowed to come to the school campus for vaccination only.
Goa is witnessing surge in daily covid cases since December 25. Over 1000 cases were reported in just one week’s time, with daily positivity rate taking jump from 2 per cent to 10.76 per cent.
