PANAJI: After withdrawal 402 candidates are in the fray in five municipal councils for the upcoming April 23 polls.
As per State Election Commission (SEC), 14 candidates withdrew from Mapusa taking the tally after withdrawal to 95.
In Mormugao, 136 candidates are in the fray are 11 candidates withdrew. Further in Margao 115 candidates are in fray as 17 withdrew.
Similarly in Quepem, 62 candidates will be fighting it out after 7 candidates withdrew their candidature.
However, in Sanguem Municipality there were no withdrawal and 43 candidates will be contesting the elections.
State Election Commission today announced that the elections of 5 municipalities of Mormugao, Margao, Mapusa,Sanguem and Quepem will be held on April 23.
SEC also added that in view of Covid only 2 more persons will be allowed with the candidates when they go to file their nominations.
