MAPUSA: The entrance road to the Mapusa District Hospital continues to pose a serious risk to patients, particularly those in critical condition, due to large potholes and an uneven surface.
Local resident Sitesh More, who has been consistently raising the issue, pointed out the dangerous state of the hospital entry road. Following his complaints, a private contractor working under the Goa government took the initiative to fill the potholes with concrete cement earlier today.
However, soon after the repair work began, rain showers washed away the freshly laid concrete, rendering the effort futile. This incident once again raises concerns over the timing and planning of such maintenance work, especially during the monsoon.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant had earlier issued a directive barring any digging or patchwork during the rainy season. The premature attempt at patchwork has not only resulted in a waste of public funds but also highlighted the recurring problem of temporary fixes being washed away during rains.
Residents say that if proper coordination and timing were ensured, such work could be planned more efficiently, allowing resources to be utilized elsewhere for more permanent and productive development.
